Sikaflex 291 Adhesive Sealant White 367g/300ml Cartridge
Used Sikaflex 291 to bed two large Lewmar hatchs on a Beneteau. I did this a year after having to do the exact same job on another hatch. The last time I used 3M 4200. The 291 seemed to be less tenacious than the 4200, didn't seem to want to stick to everything it got near. Small overages with 291 cleaned right up. After the 291 went tacky was easy to clean up (4200 remained a pain). Once 291 fully cured, it seemed quite well sealed and attached. Short story--It's hard to tell over time which will perform better: If the job was critical, I'd probably go with 4200. But if the job called for efficient application, easier clean-up, and a good flexible product, I'd go with 291.
The product featured faster cure (than 4200) and superior adhesion to damp wood.
With temps in the 70s, product was terrible to push out of tube. Needed extra effort and leverage, which was extremely difficult under a boat!! Two days later, plastic nozzle of the tube, full of sealant, was NOT cured! This is not good...... Sealant MUST cure in 8 hours max, for critical uses like a wood boat hull, going in the water a day after caulking structural seams!
